Applicants must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on all college coursework attempted and have demonstrated unmet financial need.
The WATTS Scholarship is a competitive scholarship awarded to eight outstanding transfer students new to Webster University. These recipients will enroll as full-time undergraduate transfer students at Webster University's home campus in St. Louis. To be eligible for consideration, all applicants must:
    • Have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on all college coursework attempted
    • Have completed a minimum of 15 transferable credits toward a degree in biological sciences (Priority will be given to students who have completed equivalent courses for Essentials of Biology I & II, General Chemistry I & II, and College Algebra or above).
    • Apply and be admitted to Webster University's home campus in St. Louis as an incoming transfer student with a declared program of BA Biology, BS Biological Sciences, or BS Chemistry
    • (An applicant is considered a transfer student if they have attempted college coursework any time following their high school graduation, not including the summer term immediately after graduation).
    • Be seeking their first bachelor's degree
    • Be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, U.S. nationals, or admitted refugees
    • Have demonstrated unmet financial need, which is determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
    • Complete this WATTS Scholarship application and submit the required supporting documentation by May 1.

Recipients will be chosen by the WATTS Scholarship Committee on the basis of academic merit, professionalism, and demonstrated financial need. All candidates will be notified of their status no later than April 30. All applications will be reviewed, and up to eight scholarships will be awarded for the upcoming fall cohort.

The recipients will be expected to participate in various WATTS community-building and academic support events and exercises, including but not limited to monthly cohort meetings; WATTS learning community; peer support and leadership building; biological sciences speakers program and career panels; industry visits; and student research.
    • This scholarship will be awarded for the academic year 2024-2025. At the end of each year students will be evaluated for continued eligibility, based on a number of factors including financial need, GPA, and participation as a WATTS scholar.
    • Recipients must maintain full-time (13 credit hours or more) enrollment at Webster University and a cumulative GPA of 2.8 (on a 4.0 scale). Students must earn grades of C+ or better in science and math classes.
    • One half of the annual scholarship amount will be applied to each semester’s (fall and spring) tuition charges.
    • The scholarship does not apply to summer sessions or for on-campus housing costs.
    • The WATTS Scholarship may be combined with other merit-based scholarship(s) previously awarded by Webster University, but the WATTS award will not exceed the amount of the student’s unmet need.
